Ellen grew up in the Chicago area and received her accounting degree from the University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign, passing the CPA exam shortly thereafter. She lived in the Bay Area for 15 years and
has called Portland home since 1995. Ellen has held various accounting positions in public accounting,
high tech, hospitality, non-profit and education. Ellen has volunteered as a SMART reader at several
Portland Metro schools, including Tucker Maxon.
Ellen has two grown married daughters and two granddaughters, all who are her pride and joy. She is an
avid cyclist and loves to bake. She also spends her free time practicing yoga, hiking, and vacationing with
her husband on their tandem bicycle.
Ellen was diagnosed at age nine with a sensorineural hearing loss but did not get aids until age 17. She is
thrilled to be a part of the Tucker Maxon community, where DHH children are supported in a way that
was not typical during her childhood.
