Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Portland, Oregon
The nonprofit Tucker Maxon School is seeking a fulltime Speech-Language Pathologist to start ASAP. We are looking for a skilled and professional individual to be part of our team. The SLP will work with approximately 20 children who are deaf or hard of hearing on a daily basis for about 10 months per year and have summers off! This position is Exempt and reports to the Principal.

Qualifications
• Speech-Language Pathology License, State of Oregon
• Proficiency regarding most assessment tools
• Credentialed to bill most major health insurance companies (or will be within first year)
• Knowledge and experience in an auditory-verbal educational setting preferred
• Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS) Certification preferred
• Certificate of Clinical Competence and ASHA membership preferred or we can mentor
Roles and Responsibilities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat the speech skills of preschool and elementary students with hearing loss
• Monitor children’s progress and ensure the efficacy of the program in meeting goals
• Conduct daily listening checks with the staff audiologist and resolve basic equipment issues
• Collect, analyze, and document assessment data quarterly and annually
• Collaborate with team to write annual IFSP/IEP speech, language, listening, and advocacy goals
• Document progress on IFSP/IEP goals for each student 3-4 times per year
• Attend IFSP/IEP meetings and discuss results of assessment, progress, and future goals
• Document each speech therapy session’s activities and progress
• Communicate regularly with each child’s parents to help them achieve goals at home
• Co-manage and enter assessment data into the national LSL-DR database
• Supervise observations, graduate student practicums, and Fellows as appropriate
• Work with outsourced billing service to bill health insurance companies for clinical services
• Help organize and conduct parent education events (e.g., Transitioning to a New School)
• Demonstrate respect and positive relationships with parents, educators, and administration
• Manage budget to keep assessments and protocols up to date and purchase educational materials for use in treatment
• Coordinates preschool LENA (Language ENvironment Analysis) recordings both at school and home
• Educate program staff members about each child’s speech and language skills, and how they can support speech and language development
• Provide students a balance between practice activities and “testing” to see if a child understands and/or produces the targeted response
• Participate in all required staff meetings, in-service sessions, conferences, and IFSP/IEP meetings
• Assist with student recess and lunch supervision duties
• Assist and guide public school agencies and medical specialists in planning evaluation and treatment.
• Screen speech and language of all preschoolers and kindergartners annually
• Submit a monthly report to the Executive Director to include in a monthly report to the Board

Compensation: $60-65K, DOE and CCCs, CFY possible, plus excellent benefits including health, dental, short and long-term disability, retirement and life insurance. The typical day is approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility.
