After School Care Coordinator – Educational Assistant – $21.68/hour
Tucker Maxon School at 2860 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland is looking for energetic, creative, and positive team member for our Extended Care Coordinator – Educational Assistant role.

Position hours are school days Monday to Friday, with varying shifts between the hours of 9:30am – 5:30pm, but candidates must be available to work from 2:30-5:30 PM daily. This position could be ..50 – to 1.0 FTE.
Duties include working alongside Preschool classroom teachers, and supporting children during school-day classroom activities, and recreational time. In addition, this position will coordinate and lead our extended care staff and children (ages 3-11yrs.) by maintaining an extended care staffing schedule and staff break rotations, create and implement robust child-centric programming, monitor ratio numbers to stay within compliance, maintain extended care documentation, establish a good rapport and communication with parents, secure the campus grounds and close down the facility at the end of the day, create media content for our school newsletters, and review extended care timesheets for approval.
Duties:
- Collaborate with Preschool Teachers and Extended Care staff to provide support
- Assist in creating a positive and engaging learning and extended care environment
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance
- Assist in classroom and extended care management and operations
- Prepare materials and resources for activities
- Supervise students during recess, lunchtime, or field trips as needed
Requirements:
- ORO Step 6 or above required
- Patience, humor, and love of children
- Bachelors of Arts or Science preferred
- Familiarity with preschool or early childhood education is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills to assist with lesson planning and resource preparation
- Available to work during all required hours
- Completed and up-to-date on all required Early Learning and Care coursework
- Enrolled in the Oregon Criminal Registry program now or ASAP
- First Aid/CPR certified now or ASAP
- Oregon Food Handlers Card now or ASAP
Compensation:
- $21.68 per hour
