Kindergarten
The kindergarten classroom at Tucker Maxon School is a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
Kindergarten is a time for children to try new ideas and be challenged with experiences that engage budding readers, writers, mathematicians and artists. Tucker Maxon’s curricula addresses all areas of development (social, emotional, physical and intellectual), meeting the needs of a diverse group of learners. Moreover, young children are active learners (touching, trying, moving, talking, writing, drawing, questioning). With this in mind, the school designed its kindergarten classrooms to provide opportunities to explore, investigate, and predict.
Teachers help students feel empowered, valued, listened to, and competent in order to be successful in school. We encourage each child to move beyond his/her current level of understanding. To accomplish this, our kindergarten teachers will:
- Foster independence and promote self-discovery and self-awareness.
- Help children gain and use skills necessary for working in small & large groups.
- Teach children how to ask for help, how to be helpful, and how to complete a task and put things away.

Kindergarten features
- Physical education in a full-sized gymnasium, complete with a climbing wall.
